How We Met

It all began in March 2021 on the illustrious campus of Virginia State University, where both Joél and Jordan were dedicated track athletes. While at practice, Jordan couldn't help but notice Joél's radiant smile. Seizing the moment, she flirted with him, sparking a connection that Joél was quick to reciprocate because of her undeniable charm. The very next day, he invited her to the library, where they spent hours in conversation, despite their “intentions” to do homework.

Our First Date and Early Days

After a couple weeks of seeing each other at the library and practice, Joél asked Jordan out on their first official date. They went to Mellow Mushroom, because of Jordan's love for pizza. That spring, they enjoyed long conversations and relaxed by the peaceful banks of the Appomattox River, savoring the calm moments away from their busy athletic and academic schedules.

Becoming Official

The summer passed in a blur of dates and getting to know one another, but it was the return to school in August 2021 that set the stage for the next big step in their relationship. Joél planned a special day out at the art museum, where they decided to make things official on 08/29/2021.

Life After Graduation

Post-graduation, both Joél and Jordan enrolled at VCU, carrying forward their academic excellence and mutual support into the next phase of their lives. It wasn't long before they realized that what they had was meant to last forever. Joél proposed to Jordan on December 2, 2023, and they began planning for a future together.

Looking Ahead

As they look forward to their wedding in July and the many years to come, Joél and Jordan are excited to step into the future as partners, best friends, and each other's forever. Together, they love to watch movies, eat good food, and simply enjoy each other's company—simple pleasures that mean the world to them. Their journey from track teammates to life partners is a testament to the beautiful, unexpected turns life can take, and they can't wait to continue this journey, side by side.
